hi there,

i think my ex is trying to prove i live with my new partner so that she can demand more money in the financial settlement. she has already been looking up what people in her profession earn!!!

i have now received a letter stating i will no longer receive single persons discount from the council tax as i live with ( the name was stated on the letter)
i am positive she has called them up to 1) make me pay more, and this co incides with mw stopping paying her bills and 2) to prove i am co habiting

my partner stays round a few times a week, and i have my children over every other weekend and midweek. we dont share rent or any bills and she has another home where she is registered at.

what can i do to prove this and will the council tax people listen?

please advise

Is your new partner paying council tax at her own place, in her own name?

Where is your partner registered to vote?

Your partner can stay over everyday of the week but if you havent any financial links and she is registered at her own address, I would like to think that your STBX would find it difficult to prove cohabition.

Proving cohabitation during family law proceedings is very difficult, the test used by councils and the benefits agency is much more simple, usually if a person stays 3 of 5 week nights or 4 in 7 week nights thats enough for the council to withdraw the reduction in council tax.
