50/50 SPLIT?

My friend has been with her partner for 23 years,they have two adult children, no dependant children.
The question is they have several properties jointly owned which she assumes will be a 50/50 split, however he owns a business which she is not named on, would she be entitled to a share in this?

In England & Wales the value of any asset including businesses, pensions, investments and savings held in joint or sole names forms the matrimonial pot. However assets aren''t shared mathematically. Equality in divorce settlements means living both parties living a similar lifestyle to start independent lives and assets can be shared in different proportions to achieve that. Every cases depends on the overall facts in the particular case.

Sorry I forgot to say they have never been married, does this make a difference?

Yes. If they aren''t married each party keeps their own assets and any joint property would normally be shared 50:50
