you are in a similar situation to me in regards to your mortgage. if he can no longer afford his half, i really don't think much can be done about it. i am trying to pay the full mortgage and my own rent and the mortgage is starting to cause all sorts of problems between me and stbx. i want her to agree to sell in the new year at the latest or it may be re possessed by the bank. have you got your name down with the local housing associations? when i mention this stbx gets really annoyed but it will come to that i expect. it is unpleasant to contemplate but we can't find any other way, the best of luck sigh.
chris.

See if you can get mortgage switched to interest only for a bit to buy some time.
