Hi,

Just thought I'd say hello. I'm just preparing for all the divorce action. My wife and I split over two years ago and although we have tried to remain amicable about all of this for the kids sake, it still gets stressful.

Not sure if I'm going down the DIY/most cost effective route or just getting a solicitor yet. I'm not a citizen but have my ILR and although I've researched it, I'd feel more comfortable having it legally clear.

So hopefully I can get some support here as well as offer support to others.

Cheers,
T

Many thanks for the welcome zara.

I just need to decide whether I can do the paperwork or not. I'm going to have a solicitor draw up a Consent Order for the ££ side of things so it's all clear but I will try and sort the petition myself to save a few ££. I was basically quoted £1200 to get it all done. If I can do the petition myself I'll save quite a bit, which unfortunately is the case these days. To pay that much for the entire thing to be sorted is convenient but it would nearly sink me.

Are there many here who are residents but not citizens? Like I mentioned previously, I'm almost certain I won't be "asked to leave" as I have my indefinite leave stamp but would feel more at ease knowing this side will be ok.

All the best,
Tom
