Hi I am writing this on behalf of my brother who was told to leave the mat home 2 weeks b4 xmas, he is staying with my sister but his wife is playing on all his weaknesses. She sold their car, he got nothing she got £3,000, she sold their home, she says she has given the money to her son so he is getting nothing, she moved all their furniture out he got nothing. by the way she worked part time all through their marriage of 18yrs, he has been in same job never been unemployed and gave her everything now he has nothing and he says he doesnt want to upset her by asking. My sister and I are at a loss as to how to help him any advice would be so welcomed.
Thank you so much

Told by whom to leave his home?

If she sold "their" car it must have been in her name?

Same with the home.

If he had stayed put she wouldn't have been able to sell - if it was the marital home he could have registered an interest with the Inland Revenue so she couldn't sell without his consent.

He can decide not to upset her if he wants to be broke and live on someone else's sofa for the rest of his life.

Or he can apply for ancillary relief so that their joint assets will be divided between them.
