Hi,I'm being divorced with a total pack of lies,She accused me of being a violent drunk,which never happened.when she in fact was having an affair.In the divorce papers it says she is staying with a man & woman(the woman doesnt exist)when she is actually living as man & wife.I work but in a low paid job that is why the children live with her.He earns twice as much as me,I cant afford a solicitor.What do I do.Do I put in a counter claim,if so how do I do this & free of charge.This making me ill.Can someone help.Please ???:(

Hi stavros,
Best thing is if you go and see a solicitor to get advice. Most will offer you 1/2 hour free session which is enough for them to advice you initially. They'll also be able to tell you if you qualify for legal aid. If you don't qualify for legal aid, and you can't afford legal representation then you will be a LIP (Litigant in Person). If this is the option for you then you'reve come to the right place, many wikipeeps here will be able to guide you along that road :)
If you do wish to contest the grounds for divorce please be aware it'll take time and be difficult. Your tbx seems to have move on, and yes you can contest her grounds but is it wirth it? It'll mean a lot of work and stress for you. Noone will ever see it apart from her, you and the judge and at the end of the day it's simply a means to finish officially a marriage that is not working.
But like I said, best thing is to go see a solicitor for initial advice.
Best of luck.

Hi Stavros - welcome to wikivorce:)

In addition to sprite's good advice, if you provide the following information on a post here in the forum, someone will be able to advise you:

Your respective ages;

The number of children you have and their ages;

How many nights the children spend with each parent;

The length of your marriage and any period of pre marriage cohabitation;

Your respective incomes;

Your respective outgoings;

Your assets - both soley held and joint;

Your liabilities.

Thanks Sprite,
But if I dont argue against her accusations it will look as if she is telling the truth,& surely the judge will look favourably on her.She is living with the person she had an affair with.He earns twice what I earn.The only reason the children are there(100 miles away)is because I have to work.

Divorce is on a no-blame basis in UK Stavros (what jurisdiction are you in?) so the court won't be interested in who did what.

If you provide the info requested above, we can give you more helpful support and advice
