Hi
I live in Manchester and got divorced 6 months ago.

Family home now on the market and expect to realise equity of about 60K.

I think I will get 30K out of these proceeds - but my ex says that firstly the money he has borrowed from the bank for medical treatment will be deducted.

After deducting this amount will we be able to divide proceeds of the house.

Hi snowbars,

Whether your ex's liabilities are discharged from the proceeds of the sale of the house before those proceeds are divided depends on the wording of the court order.

I presume you went through the ancillary relief process and if so what does the court order say about the family home?

YA
