Hi, I have just found this site and wish I had seen it a while ago when I was going through separation, Boy did I need some support!!

I just wondered whether any of you had ever thought about mediation. It is often so much cheaper than using solicitors and the best bit is everyone wins. When you get divorced using a solicitor you have one person fighting for their client and another fighting for theirs. When you use a Mediator the idea is that both of you win. This can be really important for people especially for their own self esteem.

It is also a great way for you to negotiate if there are children involved. As I am a child psychologist I often saw children who had been through messy divorces and it had a huge effect on them.

That is the reason I trained as a Family Mediator and it was the best thing I have ever done. I am not on here touting for work as I am very, very busy but just wanted to say it might be worth considering as an option. Usually it is cheaper, quicker and much better for children, who can have their say if it is in their interest.
Good luck to all of you, none of us enter mariage thinking we will end up in this place x
