It's going to court - self representation?

Hi

New to the forum. My partner is currently finalising his divorce. Financial negotiations have broken down and his ex-wife is taking it to court.

My partner plans to represent himself in court as he cannot afford the legal fees any longer. One year on, he's currently paying all the joint debts, the mortgage and some of the bills. He's let her keep both cars and she lives in the house, with their son (and he wouldn't have it any other way). He's only just stopped paying the car insurance. With the legal fees on top it's just too much.

Has anyone any experience of representing themselves in this scenario. I'm worried that even though he can't afford it, self-representing will put him in an even worse scenario?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thx

Hello

It can be done and lots of wiki peeps have done it, but he will need to learn procedure and what will be expected of him he can read artivles in the wiki library and the forum posts to give him an idea of the process, then when he has questions post them on the forum to get help,

Thanks for your response Dukey. I will advise him to read everything he can on the forum and then post questions if appropriate.
