Hi Everyone

I am new on here.

I left my husband just over a year ago after 12 years of a miserable marriage! I took my daughter and moved into rented accommodation to preserve my sanity and I couldnt live with a moody, bullying, controlling pig anymore.

I worked as a legal secretary in the matrimonial/family dept for 4 years so I knew my way round a divorce petition! I still work for the same solicitors but I now work in the IT Dept as an IT Engineer.

I have my Decree Nisi but I am not going for Absolute until I have the pension sharing Order and Consent Order agreed. My STBX likes to make my life as difficult as possible and won't agree to anything!

My husband decided to punish me further but running up debts in my sole name on my credit card and joint account. Also he decided not to pay the mortgage or secured loan so I managed to sell the house in January before it was repossessed (but at a £20,000 loss). My situation now is that I am currently saving up the £507 for a bankruptcy petition which I am hoping to do at the end of July! This will wipe away my £37,500 debt and enable me to rebuild my life. It's not an easy option but I have no other choice. Also a bonus is that my STBX will retain £23,000 of the joint debt!

He has refused to pay a penny in maintenance for our daughter since I left him and cannot speak or even text me. He cannot speak to his first wife either and they split up 20+ years ago so there's no hope for me!

I try to keep smiling but some days it's harder than others (especially when you get chasing letters from the creditors telling you that they are going to start legal action!)

So that's me - I hope my experiences and basic knowledge about the divorce / contact procedures can help someone here! And I hope I can get some support to keep my going through my dark days!

Hello Cleo, Welcome to Wiki. Great of you to offer some help.... we can always use that :). As you can see, the forum is a great place for some support (or just to let of some steam in a safe environment) and of course there is the chat room - the newbies and support room does what it says on the tin, and new chat is the informal kick back room :).
