Hi everyone

I'm fairly new to this website, been looking at posts for a while trying to get an idea of things, thought it's about time I actually did a post myself.

My background details briefly are: I'm 48 years old, I'm divorcing my husband of 27 years because of his gambling addiction and I have 2 sons, 20 year old at uni and 17 year old at college and 2 cats.

I appear to be in some kind of "house selling hell" as my house sale as just fallen through for the third time - I seem to be going through buyers like Elizabeth Taylor goes through husbands!) - and this is after the value of the house has fallen by a third since we put in on the market back in October 07.

Anyone else going through a similar experience?

Hello Cat, Welcome to Wiki :).

Sadly, in this market and wider climate this is a common experience :(. However, if you have so far found three buyers, your house is obviously attractive to buyers, so there is some small comfort to be had :).

Hi Amanda

Thanks for your reply. The house should be attracting interest - it's the cheapest 4 bed house in the area. I'm afraid it's been rather neglected though, my stbx spent every penny we had (and what we didn't have) on gambling, hence the divorce.

We've had another offer now, hopefully this buyer will have more than a 10% chance of getting a mortgage. I've been managing to keep our mortgage lender happy with token payments since my stbx moved out but they are threatening to start repossession if we don't exchange or make a full mortgage payment by the end of this month. So fingers crossed (again) with this one.
