hi,

I am new to this site and have posted already today in the financial site. I am Asian and had an arranged marriage in 1988- having met my husband once beforehand. he came from a wealthy family in the Midlands and we had a comfortable life. However he became very violent and in 2004 i could take it no longer and left him taking nothing with me except my youngest child, a daughter. His sons stayed with him.

Since then I have been living off benefits and he has never paid a penny of child support. My Decree Nisi was granted in jan 2006 and since then we have been going back and forth to court as he claims that he has no money and that it is all in family trusts outside his control. He has made death threats to me which have meant police involvement. My solicitors and barristers do not appreciate the different cultural dynamics that exist within Asian families and cannot seem to understand the lengths to which Asian families will go to protect their property from former wives.

Is there anyone out there who has an experience and understanding of this situation please? Or who can recommend lawyers who will act for Asian women seeking to get them fair and just settlements? At present i am at my wits end.
