Hello everyone. I am so glad I found this site as I am at the end of my tether with my solicitor and my whole divorce process. I started my divorce proceeding in Feb 2005 under the grounds of unreasonable behaviour which I changed last year to the grounds of 2 year separation at the advice of my solicitor. I have been to court 3 times as the financial settlement was supposed to be settled first before the divorce but due to a very awkward and stubborn ex no progress was made. We have an 11 yr old son who lives with me and the stumbling block was he wanted a 50/50 financial settlement whereas my barriser and solicitor wanted me to have a bigger share as I am the one caring for my son. I have had so many false promises from my solicitor that the situation would be resolved, the last time being April of this year. Her words were at that time "It`ll be all done and dusted within 6 weeks" but of course it wasnt and as I was told the High Courts close over the summer months nothing has happened yet! Please, Please can anyone give me any advice what I can and should do to bring this all to an end :(

I am new here too and new on divorce proceedings as was only served the paper less than 2 weeks ago.

You made me wonder how big is your legal bill going to be at the end of your divorce. I can't afford to have a lawyer so am taking everything in by myself. Tough without and proper advice but that's life.

Divorce is never easy when you have a horrible nasty other half.

Finger cross, things work out soon for you and me.

I have been able to get partial legal aid but have also had to make a substantial contribution towards my legal fee`s. It is so frustrating and makes me want to stand at the top of a mountain and scream and shout. Good luck with your divorce and hope it isnt to messy.:)

Hey there,

Welcome to the site, pretty new around here too and thinks its great for all the advice.

Havent yet started divorce proceedings yet but chewing my nails at the thought of it though, everyone seems to have a hard time as there's no such thing as a easy split. Here's hoping!!!

Come into chat and say hello if you havent already.

Take care and good luck to you

I am self repping in divorce. It has been fine so far. Any advice needed I will do my best. Not a solicitor 'by trade' but deal with them on daily basis

Good luck

I don't have a solicitor either and honestly, if your stbx is having one, you are sort of a bit lose out in terms of legal advice. I will go to CAB to see what I can get from them.

DIY divorce is ok only if your stbx isn't giving you a hard time. My one is and is very frustrating. I have never hate anyone that much in my life.
