hi everyone, can anyone help me, i am going monday next wk to a solictor for a divorce on my x hubby, who left me in jan 09, just found out he has had a child with the other woman, question is am i the one who has to pay for all the divorce, or i have heard that i can try and get him to pay, if anyone knows would you kindly let me no, as i have spent so much time and money on this man, i dont want to spend another penny on him,with thanks

hi haybay,

Welcome to wiki.

If your going to divorce him you have to pay the intial court costs of doing so, unless your excempt ie, in receipt of qualifying benefits.

If you divorce him on adultery, often(not always) the judge will award costs to you, this covers that fee but not sols fees..

my sol said that i should offer her 500 pounds as she was dv me on grounds of 'ub'

and all stupid reasons too

she had asked that i pay her costs!

he said the judges normally award the cost against the person who is being dv for ub

is this true

or have i just gifted her 500 for nothing?
