Hi, I've not used anything like this before and would just be grateful for some advice/opinions. My husband andI have been separated four and a half years, he used to pay all the bills etc but had to stop when he lost his job 2 years ago. He now has another job and just pays the mortgage (interest only) and gives me halft the cost of clothes and school trips for our son. He has our son on average one night a fortnight. I am ineligable for legal aid but am being urged to sort out a divorce because things could get awkward when our son turns 16, is this going to be very costly and difficult?

It doesn't have to be... things generally only get difficult and expensive when one party refuses to co-operate reasonably in the process.

Many solicitors offer a free meeting to help you understand your situation or you can look on the site here and think about doing it yourself with the help of people on the site.

Best wishes
