Hi all,

i'm new to the site and have just joined to get the jist of things. My wife and i split up around 5 months ago and I now am seeing someone else. We have 2 children together and own a house and have debt together.
Yesterday i received the first solicitors letter through requesting the divorce on the grounds of adultery. Last night I spoke at length to my wife and we seem to have sorted out that A. the house will be sold and debts cleared. B.Custody and visiting etc for my 2 boys C.that i would agree tom the grounds for divorce.
Given that we both cant afford the solicitors fees and have agreed these things, are there any reasons to use solicitors?
It is fairly ammicable at the mo and I can't see any obvious reason for that to change in the near future.

Thanks for reading and i'm sorry if i'm asking questions for which there are answers on this website. just a bit lost on here at the mo. lol :silly:

Hello

You have a couple of options if you don`t use a solicitor,

1,Get a divorce pack from court and do all the forms yourself.

2, Online or managed divorce package and they do it for you.
Wiki do a package for £249 from Petition to Absolute, all done online post ect.

What you will need to tie it all up legally is a Consent Order a legal document that states who gets what and the detail of your agreement that can be done for £149.

Take a look at forms D8a D84 D80a D81 and D36 and see if you fancy having a go with our help of course, if not,

£249 divorce package
£300 petition court fee
£40 Absolute court fee
£149 consent order

If all goes well and the court isn't to busy it takes 12-16 weeks and can be done for less than a grand.
