If there are no children involved and no long period of cohabitation prior to marriage, its likely you would both take out of the marriage what you put in. But there are no definites in divorce settlements.

Don't know if this will help but,I met my wife 10 yrs ago and she had 3 boys.I allready owned my house before i moved her in which was about 7 1/2 yrs ago married for nearly 3.I earn circa 30k and she now earns circa 12k but that has been only in the last 2 yrs. Before that she earned what we considered "Beer money".
I went to see a solicoter and explained my situation and she said I will not loose my home at all or be made to sell up.At first when i said we had been married nearly 3 yrs she said i may have to pay about 2 or 3 k for a Clean Break because of approx 4k debt on cards etc. When i said she has lived with me for said time she then said maybe i have to give her upto 10k.But at the end of the day she did really come with nothing only debt which i cleared for her!! Her only loss was giving up her council house.

I can imagine that if your husband paid 35k he certainly would want that back but as i am your is only a "Short marraige" so I have been informed it certainly is not a 50/50 split.
I would get legal advice as soon as possible to put your mind at rest.

Good luck for the road ahead.
