hi, I'm new to the site and am at the end of my tether. This is my 2nd marriage that is about to go down the toilet. The first one left me bankrupt and homeless and I am terrified this is going to happen again. To that end I am after some advice about securing my assets both financial and material. I hasten to add that I have not strayed and there is no third party, I'm just sick of being treated worse than a dog. There is a child involved (a little girl aged 2) which is making my decision to split even harder, but the atmosphere at home is not working and it is not constructive for her relationship with me and her mother.
I do not want to lose everything again in the settlement and would like to know if there is anything I can do before starting the divorce process.

I am not sure why you lost everything in your first divorce.

But how the finances are settled depends on how long you've been married and you and your spouse's needs and assets.
