Could anybody help me with a question. I have no mortgage. And have roughly £50 per wk to myself after all bills are paid. My wife stands to inherit £50-000 pounds soon. Would a court take that in to consideration if we divorce. And can they make me sell my property to give her half.Or would they expect me to give a percentage of the value to her. We have been married 4 years and the property was mortgage free when we got married.I pay £60 per wk towards the children's upkeep :) please help im confused

The marital home is a joint asset of you and your wife. How it is divided would take into account the needs of your children to be housed.

Apart from that, assets are divided according to the needs of each partner, their income and outgoings.

I don't know about inheritances.
