Hello all,
My name is Michael, I have had a very short marriage, I married a Filipina in April 2008 in the Philippines it then took until September 2009 to get her settlement visa sorted out.
She arrived here in the UK on the 29th September 2009.
She left to return home to the Philippines after only 12 days on the 12th October 2009.
I will post the fuller account of events as well in the divorce forum, but it seems she married me only for financial purposes.

I would like to move on by having a DIY divorce but she has said she does not want to divorce I expect she wants financial support.
Can anyone please explain if I have any options?
Hopefully if I post the full events you might think like me that I could divorce her on unreasonable behaviour.
But how would that have to be done and what is that likely to cost me?
Michael.:(

If it's that short and no kids involved it can be straight forward and DIY. If ou don't know her address abroadit can be hard to trace, but it can still go hrough the process in the UK.

Thank you for repling,
I know the family address, and her work address as I have been told she went back to the same job, I do not know her lodging address, I have written to her work address before she came to the UK.

She has said that she does not want a divorce can I still do a DIY one?
Michael.

Hi

You can apply for the divorce even she is in her country.

You might be able to get some information form this site---> www.family-lawfirm.co.uk/Expat-Divorce/default.aspx
They deal with international divorce.
You have to rise 6 reasons for divorce as her "unresonable behaviour" but anyway, you can ask that site then they will give you information.
Or, you can put the word as "Expat Divorce" for the internet search engine, you will get some information.

You can divorce her by DIY, I think.
But it might be better to ask them "fixed price Expat Divorce" because less stress.
and in your case, (if you don't have any kids between her) it will be simple.

DIY Internet divorce offer (for example, this Wiki site's offer) does not for the international divorce.
Because I asked them before and the answer was "no".. then they said they did't do the international fixed price.
(IF Wiki has started to deal "Expat Fixed Divorce", let me know please..I would like to apply it.)

Good luck
