Hello all,

Husband and I have decided to go our separate ways. More my decision than his but he has agreed we can no longer be together. We've been in separate rooms for 2 months but I've been unhappy for nearly 2 years but fooled myself that things would get better. Went to solicitor for advice yesterday and came away feeling deflated and very sad that this is happening. Husband wants to separate for 2 years instead of going straight for divorce. Can we still sort out our finances if we are just separating?

Welcome to wikivorce tinks, sorry you need to be here. You can't legally finalise finances until you are divorcing. You can come to an agreement but it won't be legally binding until you have a sealed Consent Order.
