Hi everyone.
My situation is somewhat complicated. I have been marriage for 10 years. I am seriously considering a divorce from my husband. He had an affair i found out 6 months into their relationship, told me he would finish with her and stop all contact and we would try again.
I have since found out that he is still having contact and maybe "more". I have been collecting evidence for over 8 - 9 months now. And I'm confused how to go about getting a divorse as firstly we have 3 children all under 16, share a house, and also share a business. I was looking at diy divorce but with the involvment of the business i think i will have to contact a solicitor, and that means money, does anyone know how much a petition cost? Also has anyone got any good advice to get me through the moment when i say to him "I want a divorse" - i'm soooo not looking forward to it, etc.

Hi there

Welcome to Wiki - you will find there are lots of people on here who can help you with everything from the emotional to the legal and financial.

For a divorce via a traditional solicitor, you are looking in the region of £1,000 plus and then court fees of £340.

However, there is no reason that you cannot conduct your own divorce and just have a solicitor for the financial aspects of the case, which will save you quite a lot of money. Any reasonable solicitor will be prepared to work with you on this basis, which is not unusual these days.

Hope that helps
Amanda
