Hi, thank you very much for replying.
I was asking about what am I and my teenage boys entitled to when we do the financial settlement with my ex., preferably not involving solicitors, as I do not think I can afford it. I want to know what I need to look out for, as I do not trust him and he is very bad at his money management.
I could not find all info needed as he is the one who always dealt with most things.
I am nearly 50 and he is 45. We were (well still are) married for 18 years.
He earns 50k and I earn 20k.
I believe that the house is in my and his name, although he always paid the mortgage, while I paid some bills, food etc. There is still 39k remaining on the mortgage, but he told me recently that our endownmetn policy is doing badly and we might have to pay additional 7k at the end of the term. Regarding the pension, I only found our Retirement report and I do not understand it that much. It says value of my pension is now is £6684 and his value £40,000 and joint £10,000.
As I mentioned I was diagnosed with an incurable disease that makes my future very insecure. I looked at the Section 25 Matrimonial Act, but it is all too abstract.
Our boys are 17 and 15 and both plan to go to university.
Please, help me, what about I could expect from the financial settlement.
