Hi-
Thought I'd introduce myself as I just found this site & will probably be on quite a bit.

I'm 44, a mum of 2 and an American expat living in the UK (with British citizenship after nearly 20 yrs of living here & married to a Brit).

The marriage is breaking down - due to husband's anger & rage. After years of it destroying me & the kids, I found the courage to tell him how it affects us and to give him an ultimatum to either get counselling or I want to separate/divorce. I have given him a time line as I won't wait around for him to promise to get it sorted & do nothing.

I can't make him do anything - he has to be the one to accept his behaviour & want to change. All these years, he has made excuses for himself.

Anyway, I need to get myself to a soliciter and see where it all goes from here. I am not even sure if my name is on the mortgage - or if it's just in his name. I'm told this could be a key issue as to whether the kids & I can continue living in the home.

All help is appreciated in helping me clear my head & stay strong to do what is necessary for me & the kids.
Thanks for listening.

Anyway... I'm totally

Welcome to the site. I'm new here too and I'm sending you a big hug.
We can't change their behaviour, they have to want to. Getting an injunction against my husband 2 weeks ago was the hardes decision of my life but I have to think of my own safety.
I can't really offer much advice because I'm still new and the feelings are so raw. Come into chat. I've spent the past 2 days there and the people are so lovely and funny.
Take care of yourself and your children. YOU are worth it.

Hi Sunflowergirl

Welcome to Wiki, Im sorry you have need to be here, but Im sure you will find the site a great source of support, help and advice.

it must have taken a great deal of courage and strength to give your husband the ulitmatum, and I admire you for doing so. One of the things about Wiki is that there is always someone else who is in a similar postion and Im sure that you will find someone on here who has good words of advice to offer you on your particular situation.

The chatroom is a good place to speak to others, to let off steam, share your thoughts, talk seriously about divorce, or just have a bit of a natter, hope to see you there sometime.

Take Care

Ruby x
