Hi, I went to see a solicitor in November to start divorce proceedings, nothing at all happened and in Jan I got a letter saying he had moved away and someone else was taking over, didnt hear anything until the end of March when the new solictor came to my house very apologetic and filled all the forms in again as the original solictor had lost everyhting, it was only yesterday that the new solicitor send the forms to the court along with a cheque I wrote out for £300 payable to the court.

I no longer wish to use the solicitor as they have done nothing but mess about, the divorce is very amicable and everything has been agreed.

Does anyone know if I can cancel my solicitor and pay them for what they havedone so far but still have the divorce go via the court based on the forms the solicitor submitted yesterday or will I have to fill all the forms in again?

I dont want to have to pay the solicitor anymore money as I can do it quicker and better myself but can I cancel the solicitor and still have the divorce go through if I tell the courts not to correspond with the solicitor just me and my soon to be ex husband?

Any advice greatly appreciated

Thanks

There's an active thread with the same problem here:

It tells you how to notify the court.

I just sent the court a normal every day letter, nothing fancy, just quoting case ref. bla and advising that I was no longer dealing with blah solicitors and to address all correspondance to me in future. Was easy peasy.
