Hi Ive only recently joined this forum because Ive finally decided to push ahead and end my marriage. I have had so much conflicting advice (mainly from people who had never experienced separation or divorce) and I was getting a little tired with all the well wishers!

A little about me, I work full time have one teenage daughter and want to get my life back on track...well that's it really

Hi suet,

Well we're about in the same place except I am three weeks on from you having decided to end the marriage three weeks ago.

Although I was the one who initiated the end we were both aware that the marriage had reached breakdown point.

Despite this I never expected to experience the utter turmoil and conflicting emotions that result.

I am just trying to deal with day to day issues as they arise and that's all the advice I can offer you. Also, to get advice as soon as possible from a solicitor.

On the wiki home page you will see a telephone number for a solicitor's company. You can arrange a free half hour telephone consultation with a solicitor which will help to clarify your financial situation.

There are some great people here on wiki who are always ready to offer practical and emotional support, so make good use of us all!!!

Your life will move forward but slowly and with many seemingly backward steps, divorce does leave you bruised and battered but it is possible to move on and find a new life.

Thanks for your kind words everyone, although some nine months later Ive now filed for divorce so the waiting game has begun. Does it get any easier?
