My husband and I have decided that our marriage is to finish and I just don’t know where to start.

Particularly when it comes to the financial situation.
I teach so have a pretty good income and pension- we have two homes, one currently up for sale as we rented it out for a while (May have to do that again) and our marital home-which we will sell once fully renovated (but continue to “live” together)

When we married my husband had nothing, we took a leap and he now has 2 businesses which are reasonably successful and 4 other houses that he rents out.

We have a 16 year old daughter and I want to make sure she is taken care of. I’m not greedy and I don’t want us to “fall out” over money

I want it to be amicable between us so my first thought is to say the houses that he rents- they are his pension so we both have a “pot” to fall back on

Any advice of where I should start?

Sounds like a 50/50 split should be possible unless one of you earns substantially more than the other.

You need to get pension and houses valued as they are probably the most valuable assets.

Thank you for you response
My husband does earn a lot more than me- but as he is self employed he has a “creative accountant”
As his earning as higher how does this effect me?
