Guess were all going through some pain :woohoo: in one form or another, anyone any thoughts or experience towards financial settlements and how this is calculated and looked upon by the court?

Hallo and welcome.

I am separated from my husband and we aren't thinking about divorce just yet.

But from what I have read and from others' experiences I can say

if you and ex can agree on finances, its a good idea. If it goes to court you end up losing money to solicitors.

Court takes into consideration any children and their housing needs first, then the housing needs of both spouses, earning potential, length of marriage etc. All other things being equal 50:50 would be a sensible split. On this site there's a Divorce Calculator that can give you a rough idea.
