You have made a massive step, I think you need to think through carefully how you want this to evolve, you won’t have all the answers yet, but you need to create a plan that will get you to a point where you know how it is going to work through.

Access, money, belongings, debts, etc.

If you and your ex are on speaking terms then make sure that you remain as calm as you can. Telling my children and leaving them with her will always be the hardest thing that I ever had to do! It broke my heart.

Reassure them that you will never stop being their father, and you will never stop loving them, my two are much younger than some of yours, they have been my rock, I love them even more now, which I didn’t think possible.

Staying together for the children’s sake, is quite a mad concept, as children living with parents who don’t love each other has the potential to be even more damaging.

I hope that this works out for you, it will be hard, but in the end you know what you are doing is the best thing for your happiness, and every one deserves and chance to be happy.

Good luck

Just read your post and I am so glad you have made a decision. I wish you all the luck in the world. Take care of yourself and children do adjust in time.
