Hi everyone, I'm working from home although not really working after several heated conversations with my ex and would love to speak to someone with similar situations. Actually just speaking would be great. I divorced about 7 months ago. My partner had over 5 affairs although forgave him for that. He is also an alcoholic and when we divorced just wanted a Clean Break so never asked for anything except maintenance which was agreed at £350 per month and this was put in the statement of arrangement. Now he has contacted me saying he is paying too much has gone to the CSA and will only pay £265. Have been told by the CSA that this is correct too. Yet last week, he was concerned if anything was to happen to either of us regarding finances. I told him I had insured myself so if anything was to happen then with my pension, insurance I had taken out then the children would be truly covered. Within a day he said he wanted to make the decisions on this insurance cover if I was to die!! Can't believe it has got to that!

If you divorced without a Financial Consent Order approved by a judge; then you are free to make a claim now or at any future time, and vice-verca him against your assets.

The CSA guidelines for child support is 15% for one child, 20% for two and a maximum of 25% for three or more kids. (Percentages of his take-home pay)

You may get a ball-park idea of how a financial settlement would work. Even if you'd had an agreement; you could've asked for a change of the Order for spousal support.

It's not up to him to decide what you get!

There's lots of good advice on wiki for all the other support.
