Just to say hello and welcome to the site, Noris. Reading the contributions of others has been for me like the BBC ... educating, informative and quite often entertaining! Divorce is such a vile and scary business. Wiki is helping me to put everything into perspective and go through the dismal process in a reasonable way. Hope you find Wiki helps you too.

Hallo and welcome

Glad you are happy to be separated.

People will be able to help more if they have an idea of your circumstances.

My husband left our home 4 months ago, to live with another woman and her children.

I am here with 2 teenage boys, on my own. I am getting used to being single again.

Our initial plans were to stay separate, with husband contributing to family as before, for the next 4 years. By then, the mortgage will have been paid off - hope house prices will be more healthy then too - and our younger lad will be 18. We've heard and read lots of horror stories about divorce - not just the costs, but the nastiness of it, and we want to avoid this if we can, so in 4 years time we will be more emotionally detached. I don't want to end up having furious arguments about who gets custody of the toaster, for example!

I would in many ways prefer to sell now and buy somewhere that is completely mine, but that just isn't practical at the moment.
