Hiya,
just had this site recommended by a friend. I had been with my husband for 13 years, married ten, went through fertility treatment due to his inability to have kids, adopted a beautiful little (now four) year old girl a few years bak, and in November had my world rocked to find he wasn't happy only to go on and discover through texts etc he has been having an affair.
I am now in the early stages of peptitioning for divorce, we are being as amicable as possible for our little one, and yes we did explore if there was any future together but both feel not.
Its such a messy and horrid time, I am lucky in that my in laws are being brilliant with me as my family are all in Australia, and in a way, although i have been off with depression (due back next week- I teach- part time- and school have been brilliant) I am begginging to feel like I am discovering a whole new side of myself- I've been doing the DIY, decorating the way I want it, got hair done, lost weight etc, its a bit odd.
My biggest worry in money, as other than the mortgage the ex has cancelled everything he was paying. Its fine if it stays like that for now but if he kicks off on the mortgage I will be in trouble.
sorry to babble, thats me in a nutshell basically!

Hi there

Welcome to Wiki. Sorry you need us, but glad you found us.

If he leaves you short you can make an application for maintenance pending suit, which means regular payments while everything is sorted out.

In terms of the bigger picture, if you want the wikipeeps to do some sums for you, you should post this info:

thanks Amanda! I am waiting for all of the "termination of contract" letters to finish dropping through at the moment (gas, tv licence, elec water etc) then will do so. I think he will keep paying the mortgage as he has a vested interest in the equity and in maintaining his credit rating so he can get a mortgage in the future.

Welcome to Wiki

It is a difficult time....and there will be alot of ups and down, but it does get better.

You are blessed that your inlaws are being supportive. I have not heard from my ex inlaws for about 5 months since the divorce and my family are in another country too.

Still it is good to start rediscovering yourself again and the things you want and like to do.

I wish you luck!!
