Hi there,

I am the partner of a man being divorced by his wife. They are in the early stages of ancillary relief and are due to attend their first appointment soon. Since their seperation my partner continued to pay in excess of 50% of the mortgage of the FMH and running costs for over a year. When he had to drop the amount slightly because he ran out of funds; she started proceedings. the FMH has been on the market for over a year but with the recession won't sell. The stbx wouldn't drop the asking price anymore to try and help. it now appears that the stbx is being made redundant and my question is whether this will effect any decision the court will make.

My partner is now heavily in debt because he tried to do the right thing.

some info: there is one child who lives primarily with the stbx / the FMH is 5 bedroom / when the stbx was working she earned the same salary as my partner.

Any advice would be great - it is hard to watch a good man struggle where many others would have packed up and disappeared on their stbx's.

Thanks very much.
