Evening all, too long a story for you all to digest in a single post, two sides to every story n all that...
After 3 months of mostly silent hell, despite my attemts to reconcile, suggesting Relate or whatever means that might bring her back on board I have to admit it's over and am going to see a solicitor tomorrow(Scots Law).
I have found information that leads me to think she is having an affair with a collegue from work and think all her previous offerings of me being complex/falling out of love with me are a screen for her adultary. She wants to come out unscathed in the eyes of all the family and friends that care about us, something an admission of anything extra marital wouldn't bring.
What's the solicitor likely to say re house?- it's in her name only.... I know...I know... I know...
I was previously widowed with a small child, where do I stand with regard to her contributing to his future care?
Nightmare stuff, but I guess that's why we're all here I suppose.

Hi Just

Sorry to hear your situation it cannot be easy for you. I hope you have family and friends who can support you. You will also get lots of support and advice here.

In order to get some good advice you will need to post more information such as length of the marriage, age of children, respective incomes, savings, debts etc. There is a checklist of information items that you can use.

In a marriage of reasonable length a house is considered an asset of the marriage even if it is just in one name. I am not sure on the exact period but I have seen it in a recent posting on the site so a search of the postings should help you find it.

For your child I do not believe she has any obligation to contribute as it is not her child but it may be different under Scottish law.

All the best
