Hello all. I have been trying to get Separation Agreement for over 1 year now. Ex delaying things due to stock market crash..... I am on benefits due to a disability. Can I expect help with fees etc. in that I cannot cope very well with numbers and new information/facts over the phone. As A result there is increased face to face meetings with solicitor and emails. I worry that the other party will be playing on this, waiting for me to crack up with the uncertainty and stress - kids with me, professional on long term sick leave. We are debt free and I am trying to get agreement, but he will not accept Relevant Date valuations - these were done this time last year..... should I be reassured that the falling stock market is in 'my favour' as opposed to his favour, or should I be cr*pp**g myself and keeping as many options open for future work, at risk to my mental health?

Any ideas welcome and look forward to hearing from you experienced ones. FrankieDG

A falling stock market means there is less money all round, I don't see that anyone benefits.
I would have thought that if you are on benefits you would be entitled to legal aid but I don't know for sure. Perhaps your local Citizens Advice Bureau could advise you.

Frankie,

Where are you? Things is Scotland are different but in England and Wales you have to get updated valuations.

If you are having difficulties because of your disability you should investigate Legal Aid and talk to CAB or even one of the support charities about whether you can get some specific help.

I wish these guys were more widely available www.thepsu.co.uk/PSU.htm

If your health is a continuing issue, you may well need to provide medical evidence at some point.
