I have been married a year and separated for 3 months. He is in the raf so we live in service families housing. I get 3 months to vacate,so will be homeless. Does anyone know the rules on this. Plus I have been told onflicting information about what I would or wouldnt be entitled to,in respect of assets. I dont think I will get a pennt from him, which is ok. My main problem is my homelessnes. I uprooted my children and pets and moved here. I was renting a home before and was happy. My circumstances have changed since then and worry about securing new housing as I have pets. I knew my landlord before and we had a good relationship.Life throws these little problems at you from time to time I know.

welcome sarahsue, sorry you have had to join us here. If you get three months to vacate firstly I would contact council for housing benefit, find out if they would be able to do anything for you. In the meantime phone the tax credit helpline and tell them that you are seperated. do you work - if so tell them that as you would be entitled to working tax credit - help with childccare etc. I am new here too but everyone is very helpful - sure more will be along soon.

Thankyou,I do work and study full-time. I am aware of the benefits system, however I do not want to be housed in hostel or inner city location. Im sorry if this sounds pompous but I was settled in a nice area before this man convinced me to leave my home of ten years. I do get working tax etc.I am looking to rent ,however I cannot find anywhere suitable that will take my pets. Reading this back,I sound like a right cow,Im not honestly

I was in an army quarter until Dec. I can only go on what the Army system is. Mind you if it is anything like the Army you will have to be proactive and approach people yourself. Firstly you must speak to Welfare, they will be able to tell you which agencies to approach. SSAFA will help all they can. SSAFA will also advise you on housing matters. They have a website you can contact them on and they also have reps in all areas to visit you if necessary.

You must not leave the quarter without anywhere to go as the council will deem that as making yourself homeless (I know unbelieveable) You have 93 days, however if you havent got anywhere to live before then they generally will not throw you out. However, you will pay full rent.

Stand your ground and dont let the hierachy bully you or overwhelm you with protocol.

I dont know where you live but if you need a solicitor try to find one who likes to take on the Military. Apparently there are plenty out there who do and for obvious reasons.

I feel I have been let down tremendously by the Army. In more ways than one. Dont forget they are not your friends (that was one piece of advise I should have taken more notice of)
