hi everyone,
my sbtx has returned to the uk after going back to Ireland last year. She has a gambling problem which has been pretty divisive over the last decade. Indeed some issues were kept hidden for longer than that. She wants an amicable settlement with no call on the house because she realises that will sink us both. My fear is that her problems wont go away and that sooner or later she will want me to bail her out again.
what do others do ? anyone been in the same boat?

Hi skipper,
Welcome to wiki, you are sailing into a sea where many sailors are in the same boat as you :-)
You'll need to get a Clean Break Order which will stop yr ex havingany potential financial claim on you or your assets.
If you are managing an amicable divorce, it can be done cheaply, so you are lucky in that respect.
Follow the links on the wikivorce for fixed price divorce, cheapest, simplest and best.
If you are both in agreement about divorvce and money, you should be able to sort this out in 3-4 months and you'll be a free man.
Good luck.
Best wishes
