Hi, after 10 years my wife has told me wants to leave me. I have accepted this & now we are trying to be amiacable until we have parted. We have a 3 year old child.
My wife wants to move away. This is what we have put together as how to part without 'fighting'.
50/50 split of house equity
joint/shared,50/50 custody of our child ( mon-wed with wife,thurs-fri with me, alternate weekends.

I am struggling with the financial side of things though so any advice would be welome!

following an accident at work, i received a large personal injury compensation payment for future loss of earnings & damages. With the payout,3 years ago I paid a big lump off the mortgage & have saved the rest.
Is she entitled to any part of my compensation?
She is in a good job & earns more than me & has better prospects.

Hi

my view is that if the house is owned jointly, then she'll be entitled to a portion of it if you sell, then again, as she earns more than you, then most probably she'll have to pay you spousal maintenance - I may be wrong, but there are others on this site who could advise you further.

welcome to Wiki - we're all in the same boat to varying degrees, and the help you'll find here is fantastic

Hi

Firstly, for us to do sums, you need to read this:

www.wikivorce.com/divorce/Divorce-Forum/...G-IN-THIS-FORUM.html

and post that info.

She would be entitled to share in th element of the claim that was for loss of earnings, but give me some details of your generals and specials and I will have a look at it.
