Hi
Now that my divorce is over and done with I have all the extensive paperwork dealing with the last 18 months of my life, what should I do with it all? I have in someways ditched a lot of it such as correspondence both sent and as I have them all on my computer, I have thrown all the bank statements etc as they are all online but what about the other stuff? should I keep it? I have his full form E but we had a Clean Break so do I need to keep all of it???:S :S :S

In someways I just want to ditch the lot and get on with my life as I feel it is dragging me down just seeing it all

Thanks

The most important thing is keep a copy of that clean break Consent Order!

Put it safe with the stuff like your birth certificates.

Keep what is necessary as Wyspecial says and do what you want to with the rest.

I kept a couple of letters, the draft Writ (petition) and the Decree of Divorce and burned the rest in a fire pit. I felt that by burning it, it would allow me to move forwards.

Yes I agree Ruby it just feels as though it is calling to me from the filing cabinet and dragging me down so I will keep the important stuff and the rest is history, it was my old unhappy life and i am moving forward

One thing that I have learnt is that going paperless for things like bank statements nearly stuffed me. Online bank statements go back 7 years, after that, you cannot get hold of them. I had the need to reference stuff from 10 years back, so just be careful what you shred!

Thanks Turbo I don''t think that the financials will come back to haunt me after all he got what he wanted his pension (I hope it makes him very happy)but I do think the child stuff will raise its head very soon so I am keeping all of that including all the emails, text messages etc.
