I'm in the process of trying to divorce my wife as shes met someone else. We've got a 12yr old son who is staying with me, and the family home is rented so there is no property to sort out. I am staying in the family home.
We have money in the bank which she has taken the bulk of leaving me with £3k.
She wants money for the furniture in the house and now she is looking to go after my pension.
She works part time and makes no contribution towards our son.
She is now living with her new partner.
Am I entitled to anything or am I about to be bled dry!

Hi Sparky,

If you receive the child benefit for your son who lives with you then your stbx wife is liable to pay you child support.

Here is the CSA calculator for reference:-

secureonline.dwp.gov.uk/csa/v2/en/calculate-maintenance.asp

eg. if she earnt £150 a week (nett) then she would be liable for £18 a week child support.

Sorry, I don't know much about pensions.

Hi there

The first consideration in these situations is to ensure that your son is ok and you can afford to look after him properly.

In terms of savings it sounds like she has had her share and you should refuse to hand over anymore. In terms of your pension it will be a matrimonial assets just as anything else either one of you has will be.

If you would like to post in more detail, the people here will try to help you as much as they can.
