Hi,

I have received an offer of settlement from my ex's solicitor and would like to see thoughts on Pension. Details are his pension value £290k, 5 years accrued in marriage plus a further 6 years interest as he left this job in 2011 (11 year marriage). Solicitors say this value is £60,500. My pension value £36k, 8 years worth accrued in marriage (7 years on part-time salary).

Offer made to me to offset my interest is £4,000 to be catered for with equity in marital home. We have two children who live with me 5 days per week.

Seems very low and unfair to me...

Any thoughts please and thank you?

It's a difficult question in isolation as your ages, the type of pension, the date of separation etc. are all relevant. On the face of it the offer is low.

Why not ask for the pension to be shared with the appropriate percentage (which I assume they have provided to you?) - that will spur them into action.
