Hi everyone, I divorced my first wife in 1997, after 8 years of marriage, and paid child support for my two children until they became adults (18 & 19)
I have been married to my second wife for 20 years and we are looking forward to retiring shortly with my police pension after serving 32 years in uniform (military and police) however, I am very paranoid, could my first wife make any claim on my pension after all this time. There was no written agreement on it when we divorced in 1997.

Thanks in advance.

If you didn't get a Clean Break Court Order to severe your finacial ties at the time then yes she may be able to make a claim on your assets including your pension.

Has she re-married?

Who was the petitioner in the original divorce?

I just wanted out of the marriage so I admitted to unreasonable behaviour and left with my clothes and car.
I left her the house, obviously as we had two children, and I paid the mortgage and maintenance until the CSA kicked in as she was on benefits.
I had been in the military from 1986 to 1996 (we married in 1988)and I joined the police shortly after in 1996
At the time of our marriage break up I had only been in the Police for a month.
She then sold the house and moved in with my uncle who she has been in a long term relationship and they have a child together, who is about 16yrs.

Thanks
