Is there ever a time pensions are left alone? I have £40,000, approx £25,000 during marriage. My wife could have had a pension set up but chose not to until employer had to provide one. Then went freelance and chose not to start one. We had money in our account every month and she could have had a pension with that. So why would she get some of mine now?
She's emailed me twice stating she doesn't want any of it but if she then says she does in court?

Pensions are just part of the picture. How they are treated may depend on assets, incomes and needs as well as ages, length of the marriage etc.

You could offset entitlement to a share against capital. As a pension won't be accessible for years there is usually a discount applied. The new Galbraith tables have attempted to provide a way to work this out.
If you can agree a settlement between you, there is more flexibility about the way things are divided.
