Tets is not suggesting a dating site just for you to start a thread to see who is near you.As for over 20,000 adding info on the forum boards thats a heck of alot of pages and us mods would be doing nothing all day except trawling through the posts when people request can we remove their info.

Alot of users have added pics to the gallery there you will see what they look like at least.

Alive,
I am defiantly not suggesting the site becomes a dating site or even moves in that direction. Currently users can upload a picture of themselves to their profile if they wish, that picture appears on forum posts.
I don't see how searching 20 sticky threads (with potentially 1,000+ posts / thread) would be easier than finding a members profile from their name. If you are in chat, clicking on a users name and then clicking 'profile' will bring their profile straight up. From any page on the site 'mouse over' community then click on 'Directory of members' type in the username your looking for and you will get a link to their profile. Which forum thread would you start with ? How would you know the user had posted to any of the threads anyway ? Its often easier to find what someone has posted through their profile, the proper place for as much information as they want to give about themselves.

Hi Alive

Tets wasn't suggesting wiki becomes a dating site. He was referring to the local meets that wiki peeps have arranged themselves. These are just social outings without the pressure or expectation that comes with dates or dating clubs.

So far these have been things like dinners out, 10 pin bowling etc. Some of these are publicised in the forum and some on the Social Events page here:
www.wikivorce.com/divorce/component/opti...entlist/Itemid,1736/

Maybe some of the peeps who have attended these local events could say a few words here about what they thought of them?

I think a space on the left hand side of each thread we post (under our piccies maybe? - although I don't have one yet) where we could type as much or as little info as we wanted, would be helpful.

For example you could type South East or London or Lewisham or SE13 or just leave it blank.

Would that be easy enough to do ?

I do often wonder where we all are.......

Nice one, didn't think of that.

Mods...... This is nothing to worry about, just a bit of humanity clawing it's way back from the Æther of cyberspace.

I understand your viewpoint - its good to be able to put a face to the person you chat to in the chatroom (makes them more "real" in a sense), and know that there is someone who lives close to you and that you could prehaps meet for a coffee, etc.

For me, revealing my exact location isnt an option - yes there are trusted friends on here who know where I live, and some have even braved the ice and winds to visit, but as for making the information public knowledge - that's a negative.

I guess its a question of personal choice.

A lot of personal financial information gets posted on the boards - sticking a location next to that information is simply asking for trouble from nefarious sorts.

We have to think of the safety of the membership here, hence we leave it to the membership to put whatever information they feel comfortable with into their profiles.
