Thanks Angel - strange isn't it - selective understanding of machinery!

Perhaps I'm not the best person to comment because much of my life has been working in a predominately male occupation. However, apart from being teased without mercy I have always been treated with the utmost respect and gender tends to be forgotten once work commences. Now other women, especially air hostesses, can really annoy me.

ok - go for it Fiona! I've spent most of my life around men too and don't really have an axe to grind - but I do notice some things which seem to crop up often -

not listening - no ears
losing things and having to stop what I was doing to find it - no eyes
like gorgeous said - you didn't say that specifically- no foresight
lack of thinking of consequences

But then again, women like to talk and listen and men tend to think in pictures - most guys turn off when they hear the woman say 'we need to talk' ! Some guys don't do more than one thing at once (unless they're project managing) so it's tricky for them to handle all the things we can or is it that they don't need to because we're there to mop up?

And onto your air hostesses .... ;)

Sorry, browser crashed and I lost my post.

Umm.... I'm not sure engineers would be very successful if they didn't communicate, multi task, listen or think of consequences. I found there were slightly different ways to approaching a problem but we usually come to the same conclusions. What differences there are, are very complimentary.

As for air hostesses, in the past I traveled a lot often with male colleagues and the air hostesses always smile and are very polite to the men and when it comes to my turn the smile goes, the air hostess snaps "Coffee?" (not "would you like" or "can I get you anything else?") and then generally throws the cup at me often resulting in coffee being spilt on my lap. It was Pythonesque and happened so frequently we had bets on it. I used to often fly on Friday evening on the Westminister/Edinburgh commute and it was even a running joke amongst some MPs. :S

good queston could prob write me own chapter on this subject lol
My x2b used to do little things but really bugged me
He would tell me just as going out door in morning oh on call tonight!! thanks for the warning! he would walk past stuff on stairs to go up, not take them up, no thats the pixies job!! and if ever a square inch of clear surface he had to put something on it usually crap
You see although bigger things went on in my marriage to cause the split the little things are the truly most annoying because you can get justice for annoying habbits!!
And why is it when doing a small diy job in one room the whole house is disrupted urghhh gets me going thinkng about how iit used to be
