   I went to school with a Richard Head, a Justin Time, and one of my teachers was Mrs Blewer-Trump... Why oh why would you double barrel that name...

Being in Shanghai I can add to this. It is usual for a chinese person, when working where there is a high level of interraction with english speakers, to choose an english name. Here are some of the more 'unusual' names I've come across:

Peak Summit
Handsome
Windy
Table
Noise
The Rock
Wu La La (male)
Monkey
Brain
Forest
Fantasy...

I could go on. We have a competition running among friends to see who can come across the strangest.

I was introduced to a Mr Liu Kai who was an assistant manager at a factory in Canton. I asked him if he liked going to casinos, but the question went over his head :)

I have been thinking about the people I have met and their funny names. And, I remembered this today.

I had a friend Fiona Shute. We were at school together, and she always said that if she married she would want to keep her Maiden Name, or, combine it with her husband to make a double-barrelled name. I think that wore off extremely quickly when she met her future husband. James Meacock.
