Mr. Angry, you obviously didn't read what Divorce Lawyer had to say in an earlier post. if it goes to court she'll more than likely get less. She should take the offer and run.

Dear, missair. Do you really think that I am sitting on benefits and you are paying taxes to support me? I never used any state benefits and not going to do it.
I think instead of blaiming on foreigners you should look at real life and see that you support thousands of native speakers who proudly called themselves British live all theirs lives on benefits. If no foreigner, like your cleaning Polish lady, who could do all lower qualified jobs in UK?

I read this thread when it first appeared and something struck me but I decided not to get involved in what would be a controversial topic.
What I don't understand is why the OP was here for 4.5 years as a housewife then didn't do anything to study to get a UK qualification, bearing in mind her own diploma wasn't recognised. Even a degree course is only 3 years long.
Not quite the same but my ex wife has spent nearly 12 years doing minimum wage jobs, and contributing nothing, when the option to go to college has always been there. In her own country she had a responsible job.
Now strangely enough she can't find any (legal) work and prefers to live off benefits and claim spousal maintenance.
At what point are people told to stop sponging and get on with their own lives.
Her cv glows with all her potentail yet she still can't get a job.

I am now more convinced than before that the "one or two" people I referred to earlier are exposing their potentially racist attitudes further. Now, one has gone further by saying "the thousands of others pay taxes to support people like that"--this clearly a thinly veiled, stereotypical attack on foreigners.Another goes on to talk about oath of allegiance when obtaining British citizenship.

I am now really saddened, though not surprised at all, that people could sink to such low level. In discrimination law, the motive is not a defence at all, it is the words or deed that decide the unlawful act of discrimination.

It is also somewhat hilarious that some are trying to justify their remarks by reference to cleaners they had in the past. I fear, at least one is strongly projecting his/her previous bad experiences on 'catty'.'catty' or anyone else doesn't have to accept/believe what people say in this forum.Similarly, no one is entitled to make offensive, rude, or potentially racist remarks to her simply because she's unwilling accept the punditry of others.

This is beginning to get like an unregulated newsgroup. What is a potentially racist remark? It is racist or it isn't. Not like somebody else's opinion then levelling he complaint that it is potentially racist is a bit below the belt.

I was the first person to suggest to Catty that she goes back to her own country. This was in reply to her post, number 33801, that she didn't particularly like England. My thoughts were, if she didn't like England, she had been offered a nice lump of money and she could take it back to her original country

Does this make me a racist?

What I and every other poster - except Mike - has said to Catty is that the offer from her husband is a good one and she should take it and avoid court like the plague.

We are all getting more frustrated, that even though she has been offered advice from a number of experienced posters, she keeps on asking for more advice, because the answers she was getting were not the answers she wanted to hear. Even Divorce Lawyer has said that the offer is a good one and she should look at accepting it.
